Guess what Mommy and I did today. Yep...we had more pictures taken!! At least this time it was at Kiddie Kandids at Grapevine Mills mall. I was well rested, so the results were much better than last night! Check out the pictures in my 'five months' gallery photo album.

5 months old today! Spent most of the day driving home from San Antonio. I was sad to leave my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins behind, but they live pretty close, and I'm already looking forward to seeing them again...and SOON. Especially since I like road trips and vacations so much!
I was really tired by the time we got home and just wanted to go to sleep. Mommy and Daddy had other plans. If you're a regular reader of my journal, you know that I get my picture taken each month on the anniversary of my birth with my first, and very pink, teddy bear. So today was the day...here's the picture. It speaks for itself!!! I'm sure hoping this will convince them to time their picture taking sessions better.

2nd day in San Antonio. Got my first smell of real SA Mexican food. The whole family ate breakfast tacos at Lasoya's. Next, we went shopping and then back home to grandparent's house to visit some more.
The story of the day...Daddy says to Justin, "get your Canon and let's go outside with Jillian". So Mommy picks me up and outside we go into the backyard followed by Daddy and Justin. I'm thinking, here we go again more pictures, after all I'm used to this, Daddy's got a Canon too, and I'm already partially blind anyway. Well, Justin doesn't pull a Canon out of his camera bag, he pulls a CANNON out of his camera bag! I'm pretty sure I should be ducking not smiling in front of this thing!! Turns out it's a Canon after all, just with a monster lens! I shouldn't have worried. Mommy and Daddy wouldn't put me in harms way.
The evening ended perfectly...we ate out at Los Barrios, one of San Antonio's most famous Mexican restaurants. (...at this rate, my first taste of solid foods is likely to be refried beans!!!)
Here's a picture of Uncle Justin shooting me with his 'cannon'.

Yea!!! First road trip. Let the vacations begin! Daddy took off work today and we made the 300 mile trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house in San Antonio. I was well- behaved, so I don't know why Mom and Dad waited so long. Oh well, they are rookie parents after all. I slept for some of the trip and me and Mommy played when I was awake. Mommy sat in the back of the car with me. Daddy drove with the ice chest in the passenger seat as his companion. He didn't seem to mind this arrangement at all.
We got to San Antonio about 5:30 PM and were greeted by the whole Moore family at Grandma and Grandpa's house. I was so happy to finally meet my cousins Tanner and Kendal and my Uncle David. It was also great to see Aunt Jeanine, Uncle Justin, Aunt Shannon and of course Grandma and Grandpa again! I had two new experiences this evening. One, I had a bath in Grandma's sink, (...with an audience, I might add!) and two, I slept over at Grandma and Grandpa's house. (in my 'pack 'n play' bassinet) My first slumber party!!!

Rolled over from my tummy to my back today for the first time. It's a good thing too, since rolling over doesn't do any good if you can't complete the trip. It gets old real fast when you get stuck and can't make the 'round'.
I need to get moving under my own power soon. Mom and Dad are trying to keep me entertained, but I see stuff all around me I can't wait to damage and destroy.

Milestone for the day. I can sit up on my own now! See picture for proof. I'm also getting pretty good at grabbing stuff. I tear up Daddy's newspaper while he's trying to read it. I try to grab food off Mommy's plate while she's not looking. Every chance I get, I grab Mommy's hair, the cats' fur, and Daddy's glasses off his face. Life sure is getting fun!

Look out world! I’m getting closer and closer to total independence! I'm getting mobile! I rolled over from my back to my tummy today! I’m so proud. I wish you could see the smile on my face after I executed this maneuver. By the end of the day I had this move perfected.
Mommy and Daddy took me for a stroller ride in the park this morning at 7:00 AM. What a brilliant morning. As this is my first summer in Texas, I can’t say from experience, however, I’ve heard this summer has been unusually mild. June was the second wettest on record and thus the temperatures were down. July had some hot days, but not too bad. August has been down right pleasant! This morning the temperature was a cool 69/70 degrees! Highs in the mid 80’s…so maybe next year I’ll learn what all the fuss is about regarding how hot it gets in Texas.

My first Friday the 13th…and my Daddy’s name is Jason! I survived…guess he’s not that ‘Jason’.
Watched the opening ceremonies of the 2004 Olympic games. The games have returned to Greece where they started almost 3,000 years ago. It was a very beautiful ceremony.

Are you kidding me!!! Mommy took me back to the doctor’s office today! I’ve had enough of that place this month. This was for my regularly scheduled 4-month-old visit, which means, you guessed it…I got SHOTS AGAIN! I now know what a pincushion feels like. At least we got good news…the fever is gone. I just suffered through my first viral infection.
Also of note today, I got my first taste of rice cereal! Yahoo!!! It wasn’t much, Mommy just mixed a little in a bottle of milk. However, I’m thrilled. You try eating the same meal over and over for four months!

I woke up three times in the middle of the night. Daddy got up and rocked me back to sleep each time. The third time he gave me some milk. I was able to keep it down. The fever is going away, and I’m feeling much better today.

I am sick for the first time. I have my first fever. It was a miserable night. My body was really hot. Mommy took my temperature early this morning and it was 101.5 degrees so she took me to the doctor’s office. The doctor checked all the usual stuff, my eyes, my ears, my nose, and throat and she couldn’t find anything. So to my horror, they decided to draw blood and get a urine sample for testing to see why I have this fever. Oh my gosh, they poked me three times to get blood. Here's the proof of the poking. Don't I just look miserable??

I cried so badly and Mommy had to hold me down and she cried. It was just horrible. I’m not gonna say what they did to me to get the urine sample. However, I got the nurse back. I tooted and got it all over her, the wall, the floor. The stuff went everywhere. She got a sample all right…just not the type she wanted. I was very proud of myself when I herd the nurse tell Mommy that was the first time she got exploded on like that in her 11 year career! I guess she got me back when she returned and gave me a shot of antibiotics in the thigh.
All the while, Daddy was completely unaware of these events. He was flying home in an American Airlines jet. As he was taking a taxi home from the airport, he got the phone call from Mom from the doctor’s office. Not the welcome home he was expecting. Mommy and me had to wait a while at the doctor’s office to see if I was going to have an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. Meanwhile, Daddy was back home locked outside the house. I bet next time he takes his keys with him. Or better yet, maybe he won’t go on any more business trips.
Mommy and Daddy gave me baby Tylenol every six hours. I threw up the next three times they tried to feed me. However, slowly but surely, I started to feel better.

Mommy and me went shopping at the Grapevine Mills Mall. It was SO crowded! Mommy told me it was because of 'tax free' days for back to school shopping. What is this...school? I guess I'll find out some day. I miss Daddy; I hope he comes back home.
Something is wrong inside my body. I'm starting to feel warm all over. I made a new noise today, a sad little whimper, to let Mommy know I'm starting to get sick and need her help.

What is going on around here? Daddy's not here but his truck is...and he didn't come home from work to kiss me goodnight??!! Mom and me are spending our first night alone without Daddy around. Mommy explained that Daddy went to Las Vegas on a business trip and he would not be home until Saturday. I don't like it. He needs to be home with Mommy and me.

I knew it! It was only a matter of time. That stupid pouch! The postman asked Mommy if she had a baby kangaroo in her pouch! How humiliating! Only four months old and Mommy's already embarrassing me!
